Legal Assistant

We are looking for a highly organized and diligent Legal Assistant to join our team in Canada. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as possess a strong understanding of the legal field. The ideal candidate will have experience working with attorneys in a high-pressure environment and be able to prioritize tasks while meeting tight deadlines.

Responsibilities:
• Manage attorneys’ calendars, schedules, court appearances, document preparation, filing deadlines and other deadlines for clients.
• Coordinate travel arrangements and arrange meetings as necessary.
• Manage reception duties such as answering phones and greeting visitors.
• Prepare client invoices and review expense reports.
• Maintain an organized filing system using paper or electronic files to store documents.
• Gather research materials from various sources (e.g., government agencies or websites).
• Utilize technology systems related to the legal field such as databases, court applications and document management systems.
• Assist attorneys with trial preparations by organizing files, scheduling witnesses and preparing witness statements.
• Draft correspondence, pleadings and other legal documents as requested by attorneys.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by attorneys or partners in order to support the firm's mission statement.

Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or Law required; additional certification preferred but not required; completion of paralegal courses is preferred but not required; advanced knowledge of legal terminology is desired; mastery of English grammar is preferred but not required; excellent writing skills are mandatory for this role; knowledge of other languages is desirable but not essential; exceptional organizational skills are essential for success in this position; familiarity with various software programs including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint); familiarity with different operating systems including Windows/Mac OS X/Linux/Unix systems is beneficial but not required); experience working within the Canadian legal system is preferred but not mandatory; ability to work independently under intense pressure while managing multiple cases simultaneously is essential for this role; flexible schedule availability may be needed at times due to fluctuating workloads; must possess a valid driver’s license if travel to court hearings or client meetings is necessary within Canada or outside of Canada's bordersPlease Apply
